Mobile Phone Insurance – Avoiding That ‘Sinking Feeling’
You may have worked out from the title that there is some kind of nautical connotation about this article and you would be partially correct. The connection as far as the title is concerned relates to water. Water and mobile phones do not go together very well. Whilst that may sound like stating the obvious, you would be surprised how often mobile phones are damaged by water and people are then scurrying for their mobile phone insurance to see whether it is covered!
Recently, a friend’s daughter had an unfortunate accident involving her phone. It would have been easier to make up a story rather than tell what actually happened, but here goes.
Stephanie spent her wakening moments on her mobile phone. She simply had to keep up with events in her circle of friends. On the day in question, she got up late and therefore had to rush. She had left her phone on the bed covers. When she realized that she had to rush out to catch her train, she flicked the bed covers with a view to them resettling on the bed neatly. What she did not realize was that she also flicked her phone.
Up and away it went, almost as in slow motion. She watched in horror, powerless, as it plunged into the glass of water she kept by her bedside, with a loud “Plunk”!
She rushed over to try to save it. Alas, it had died almost instantly. Her heart sunk. The she remembered her mobile phone insurance policy. She took it to work and called the helpline. What a relief to find that it was covered and despite the dodgy story, they would replace the phone within 48 hours.
Stephanie avoided that ‘sinking feeling’ by having the foresight to take out mobile phone insurance.
