Pregnancy is that time in a woman’s life when she experiences her baby as it grows inside her body. An expectant mother can go about travel and holidays, but there are some important factors to consider.

If you plan car travel during pregnancy, the best time is during your second trimester, as any kind of long distance travel during the initial stages of pregnancy can be overwhelming for some pregnant women, because of morning sickness, nausea, and low energy levels.

While travelling by car ensure you have a companion so you can share driving. An important thing to do is to wear your seatbelt at your hips and not over your abdomen and the cross-strap between your breasts. Take regular stops to stretch, move around, and use the bathroom. Carry pillows to rest your feet and back, enough energy giving foods, water, and any medicine.

Any pregnant woman who travels should carry her medical records and it would be a good idea to enquire beforehand about medical facilities available at the destination. Of course, you can see your doctor before you make any trip so you relax while you travel during pregnancy and enjoy it thoroughly, with no nagging fears in your mind. However, some women in advanced stages should not opt to drive as the bump close to the steering can cause discomfort.
